A question about being saved by God?

Can you get saved by somebody repeating a verse to you, and you repeat and mean it from the heart? I did that last year when I was going through a heard time when my Aunt passed away , and which I got anxiety, and still do sometimes. some people are telling me you can't get saved by repeating a verses from someone.
