Girls are strange creatures. I put my fiance through so much before we met and now I Love Him Dearly. I'll just tell you this: Girls LOVE attention. They want all your attention, no matter what they say. They also want you to try really hard to get them. Not stalker like, but romantic like. You need to know the difference too. :)
